Chokecherry is an hardy shrub that performs well in full sunlight and is adapted to a wide variety of soil types. Showy clusters of white flowers appear in spring are then followed by edible red to purple berries that are popular with wildlife. Chokecherries can also be a valuable component in a screen or noise barrier planting, and can grow up to 30 feet tall and spread up to 20 feet at maturity. Potentially poisonous to livestock.
