Beaked Hazelnut (Corylus cornuta)

Beaked hazelnut is a multi-stemmed shrub found throughout Washington on both sides of the Cascades and at the coast. Reaching heights of up to 13 feet, beaked hazelnut is generally found in open forests or forest edges in partial shade. It provides shelter for small mammals and birds, and it’s both its leaves and nuts are a food source for wildlife. The nuts are edible for humans as well, and similar to a commercial hazelnut.
