Blue Elderberry (Sambucus cerulea)
Blue elderberry is found from sea-level to moderate mountain elevations. A native deciduous shrub, it provides valuable cover and food for many birds and small mammals. The fruits are also prized by humans, often made into jellies, wine, pies, and syrups. Blue elderberry can grow up to 30ft tall and 10ft wide. The flowers are white or cream colored, displaying in April-June, with fruit ripening in August.
